The girl who brought us Friday is barely recognisable in her new smash Foolish, and we are 100% here for it.
It's a dream – frothy, melodic, catchy, cool. Rebecca’s voice is infinitely better now than what the world heard in 2011. This could easily be Selena, Demi, or even some sort of female-fronted indie band trying their hand at lush pop (Zero 7 inspired?).
The video is even better. Stylistically it’s not anything new, but Rebecca is all grown up, giving serious face to the camera, having a great time with her Scandi-chic model man, dancing, skinny dipping. She is natural, magnetic and enchanting. So gorgeous in a really refreshing way. It’s definitely sexy but the youthful element is still there, with shots of Black trying on different shoes, costume jewellery and outfits Mary Kate and Ashley montage style.
The Daft Punk guitarist is a bit unnecessary but it doesn’t matter. It’s all about Rebecca. This girl has emerged into a real popstar.
